Tessellated Pavement, Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania, Australia
It was our last night on the Tasman Peninsula and I had always wanted to at least take a look at this location, with its amazing rock formations. I tried so many different angles but I couldn't find 'the one'. I decided to stop trying for some time and sat down, talking to my wife and daughters, not far from this spot, maybe 3 meters away.
As the sun started to set we spied some sunset colour in this direction and it took me by surprise, I was so focused on looking the other way, I missed the possibility here. I quickly grabbed my already set up gear and lined things up.
In the portrait position, my exposure times are always longer due to the focal length required, from memory this photograph was captured over one minute. This long time factor allowed the lit up clouds to seemingly streak across the scene.
