Coffin Bay, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia
'Sunk' | Unique ID - PKP152
My family and I had driven past this old sunken boat on the shores of Coffin Bay on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia several times and I just had to take a look. The scene was perfect, what a set up. I thought I would just come back that afternoon at sunset and attempt to take a photograph, well the tide had other ideas. When I arrived that afternoon there was absolutely no water around the boat. The tide was meant to be high but it was no where near it. So I started asking around about this phenomenon and was told that the area experiences dodge tides very often, the tides just sometimes don't happen. With the understanding of that I just had to keep going back.
On this afternoon a few days later there was finally enough water around the boat but it was receding very quickly. I snapped the shot and felt lucky I was able to capture such a beautiful scene.
