I arrived an hour before dawn on this morning in late Autumn to find perfect conditions, not a breath of wind and high cloud gliding across the sky from the West. I set up in anticipation and I waited. The day before this one Merimbula was covered in smoke from burning off, I was hoping that it had cleared enough for this morning.
As the sun rose the sky exploded with colour, the display was incredible. I have been visiting this location for years but have never seen light like this here. As I was setting up to take my first photograph two large boats rumbled slowly down the inlet towards the sea. In no time at all the ripples from them reached the boat in the foreground and caused it to move around. I had to wait further and as I did the colours became even stronger and this scene was created.
