I wanted to capture the very last rays of sun through the snow gums at this epic location. The night before this I had arrived to late, the sun had already passed below the hill behind me. On my return the next day, much earlier this time, I noticed the strong light in this location. Behind me it is possible to see nothing but burnt snow gums, the place was severely burnt in the 2003 bush fires, somehow this small pocket around Wallaces Hut was saved by local firefighters.
I think the burnt trees attributed to the strong light here, the sun is able to penetrate through to light up the remaining snow gums with very little hindrance. There is a certain peace that can be felt up here, it is so quiet in this classic high country.
