After a couple of days of rain I was surprised to wake up early an see some light in the sky. I think this was the only break in the clouds that I saw for the entire time I was here. I quickly drove to this location and proceeded to push my way through the thick reeds to get a clear view of the Murray. In this area the Murray seems to stretch its legs, it slows down as it wanders through many vast wetlands. Without a doubt the birds love it here as well, this area is plentiful in many regards.
Driving into the Murray district from the east was a little surprising on this occasion. There was so much water around compared to a trip that I had travelled through this region in 2007. After several months of flooding and then further rain the Murray-Darling Basin was in the best shape it had been in for a long time.
