In the distance the drop to Leatherbarrel Creek is dramatic and popular with Cross Country skiers as a destination. I arrived in this location to find these burnt trees covered in ice from the strong westerly winds that would occur here in blizzard type conditions. The ice on the limbs of this tree must have been at least three inches thick, displaying how hard the wind must have been blowing when it was stuck there.
I tried to imagine what it would be like trying to deal with those types of conditions and can understand why so many have a such an appreciation for this area of Australia.
