ISLAND ARCH
Shipwreck Coast, Victoria, Australia

The Twelve Apostles and surrounds is still one of my all time favourite places to visit, camera or not. The outlooks are spectacular and all though it is much busier now than it used to be, it is still worth a look. I had one morning here on this trip and I had to choose where to go. I had tried to capture Island Arch in the past but it was never even close to anything that made me want to record the light on film. In fact, before this day, I had not even taken my camera out of my Pelican case, there was just nothing happening.

I watched in the early morning, it was stormy and light rain showers were passing through. I arrived really early, maybe an hour before dawn, to make sure I was able to get a composition and set up. Almost as if on cue, the sun started to rise and the storm off on the horizon moved closer and closer. It is pretty special when the dawn light and cloud on the opposite horizon collide.
