Hazards Beach, Tasmania, Australia
I have thought about capturing this location as a portrait since roughly a year after returning from our very first trip to Tasmania in 2009. I walked in here on that occasion and thought to myself that no matter what, I would return to this beach one day. The photographs on that occasion showed this beautiful place but we were in a rush, it was late in the afternoon, really hot and we didn't really have time to explore.
I don't know how many times I had looked at maps online since that occasion, looking at this rock, thinking about what might be possible.
It was pretty special to walk down the entrance to this beach some nine years later, on a picture perfect day in April, without a breath of wind, a great tide and a number of rolls of film in my bag. For me these are the times I remember, and I had hours to portray what I was seeing through the lens.
